Tulunids
Dynasty of Turkic origin founded by Ahmad ibn Tulun that ruled Egypt and, from 878, Syria as practically independent governors under nominal Abbasid suzerainty, with its capital at al-Qata'i beside Fustat. Weakened after the murder of Ahmad’s son Khumarawayh in 896, it fell to an Abbasid army in 905.
