Utigurs
Turkic nomads of the Oghur group who in the 6th century lived in the steppes east of the Sea of Azov and the Don, kinsmen and rivals of the Kutrigurs to the west. Justinian repeatedly set their ruler Sandilch against the Kutrigurs; in the late 550s the Avars made war on them, and by 576 they were subjects of the Turks, and their ruler Anagai took part in the capture of Bosporus.
