Treaty of Gulistan

The peace that ended the Russo-Persian War of 1804–1813: Persia recognized the transfer to Russia of Dagestan, eastern Georgia and a number of Azerbaijani khanates, and Russia gained the exclusive right to keep a navy on the Caspian Sea.

The treaty was signed for Russia by General Nikolay Rtishchev, commander-in-chief in Georgia, and for Persia by Mirza Abolhassan Khan Ilchi (Shirazi); the text was drawn up by the mediator, the British envoy to Persia, Sir Gore Ouseley. Persia did not accept its losses and started a new war in 1826.
