Bahram Chobin
Sasanian general of the Parthian house of Mihran who routed the Turks in 588, rebelled against Hormizd IV and in 590 took Ctesiphon, reigning for a year as Bahram VI, although he was not of the Sasanian house. Defeated by Khosrow II and his Byzantine allies in 591, he fled to the Turks and was murdered at Khosrow’s instigation; Persian epic made him a hero.
