Hormizd IV
Sasanian king of kings (579–590), son of Khosrow I. He fought the Byzantines and the Turks and dealt harshly with the aristocracy and the priesthood; after he disgraced his victorious general Bahram Chobin, Bahram rebelled, and Hormizd was deposed, blinded and killed in a palace coup.
