Gao Xianzhi
Tang general of Goguryeo descent, military governor of the Four Garrisons of Anxi. In 747 he led an army across the Pamirs and took Little Balur, an ally of Tibet; in 750 he seized the king of Shash by treachery; and in 751 he was defeated by the Abbasids at Talas. Sent against An Lushan in 755, he fell back to the Tong Pass and was executed there on the emperor’s orders in January 756.
