Karluks

Turkic tribal confederation of the “Three Karluks” between the Altai and the Tian Shan, subject in turn to the Western and the Second Turkic khaganates. In 742 they joined the Uyghurs and Basmyls against the Turks; in 751, by the Chinese account, they turned against the Tang army at Talas; and after breaking with the Uyghurs they moved west into the Seven Rivers country, where by 766 they had taken over the lands of the Türgesh.
