Tang dynasty
Chinese dynasty (618–907, interrupted by Wu Zetian’s Zhou in 690–705) founded by the Li family after the fall of the Sui. Its early emperors extended Chinese rule deep into Central Asia, and its capital Chang’an was one of the largest cities in the world; the An Lushan rebellion (755–763) began its long decline.
