Abu Muslim
Leader of the Abbasid revolution in Khorasan. In 747 he raised the black banners near Merv, and his armies carried the revolt across Iran to Iraq; as governor of Khorasan he sent reinforcements to the army that defeated the Tang at Talas (751). The caliph al-Mansur had him executed in 755.
