House of York
English royal dynasty, a branch of the Plantagenets whose emblem was the white rose. Descended from Edmund of Langley, created Duke of York in 1385, it ruled England from 1461 to 1485 (with a break in 1470–1471) until Richard III fell at Bosworth.
