Maniakh
Sogdian merchant whom Menander Protector calls the chief of the Sogdians, in the service of the Turkic ruler Dizabul (Istämi). After Khosrow I rebuffed his silk embassy to Persia, he persuaded the Turks to seek an alliance with Byzantium, led their embassy to Justin II in 568 and set out back east with Zemarchus in August 569; he died among the Turks before Zemarchus set out for home.
