Muhammad of Ghor
Mu'izz al-Din Muhammad ibn Sam, Ghurid ruler from 1173 to 1206, co-ruler with his elder brother Ghiyath al-Din. From his base at Ghazni he crossed the Indus in 1175, took Multan and Lahore, was defeated by Prithviraj Chauhan at Tarain (1191) and beat him there the next year, laying the foundation of Muslim rule in northern India.
