Abu Bakr ibn Umar
Chief of the Lamtuna Berbers and amir of the Almoravids from 1056, after his brother Yahya ibn Umar fell in battle. He led the conquest of the Sous and of Aghmat, crushed the Barghawata and founded Marrakesh around 1070; leaving the north to his kinsman Yusuf ibn Tashfin, he led the Almoravids of the Sahara until he died of a poisoned arrow in 1087.
