Copán
Maya city in the Copán valley in western Honduras, on the southeastern edge of the Maya world, and capital of a kingdom whose dynasty, founded by Kʼinich Yax Kʼukʼ Moʼ in 426–427, ruled until the early 9th century. Its ruins have been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1980.
