Devapala
Third king of the Pala dynasty, who reigned for about forty years (c. 810/821 – 850/861), the son of Dharmapala and the Rashtrakuta princess Rannadevi. Pala inscriptions boast that he humbled the Gurjaras (Pratiharas), the Utkalas, the Hunas and the Dravidas; at the request of the Shailendra king Balaputra he endowed a monastery at Nalanda with five villages.
