Harald Hardrada
Harald Sigurdsson, king of Norway from 1046. After the defeat at Stiklestad (1030) he served Yaroslav the Wise in Rus and rose to command the Varangian Guard in Byzantium; he married Yaroslav's daughter Elisiv and fell at Stamford Bridge (1066) while claiming the English throne.
