Kingdom of Georgia

Medieval Christian monarchy of the Bagrationi kings, formed in the early 11th century from the union of the kingdoms of the Iberians and of Abkhazia. In its golden age under David IV and Queen Tamar (late 11th – early 13th century) it was the leading power of the Caucasus; it fell to the Mongols in the 13th century, recovered in the 14th and broke up into separate kingdoms and principalities in the later 15th century.
