Kusaila

Berber leader of the Awraba tribe of the Aurès and possibly king of Altava, called Kusayla in Arabic and Aksil in Berber; the earliest sources describe him as a Christian. In 682 or 683 he and his Byzantine allies destroyed the detachment of Uqba ibn Nafi at Tahuda, and he ruled Ifriqiya from Kairouan until the Arabs defeated and killed him at Mamma in 688 or 689.
