Raymond III of Tripoli
Count of Tripoli from 1152 and, through his wife Eschiva of Bures, prince of Galilee, twice regent of the Kingdom of Jerusalem (from 1174 and from 1185). Leader of the barons who favoured truces with Saladin, he opposed Guy of Lusignan's accession and advised against the march that ended at Hattin, where he broke through the encirclement and escaped; he died at Tripoli a few months later.
