Songtsen Gampo
King of Tibet (from 618 or 629) and founder of the Tibetan Empire. He unified the plateau, moved the capital to Lhasa and married princesses from Nepal and from Tang China (Wencheng, 641); tradition credits him with introducing Buddhism and the Tibetan script.
