Taspar Qaghan
Son of Bumin and fourth khagan of the Turks (572–581), Tuobo in the Chinese histories. The Northern Zhou and the Northern Qi competed for his favour with marriage alliances and gifts; according to the Book of Sui, a Qi monk taken captive by the Turks converted him to Buddhism, and he built a monastery and asked the Qi court for sutras. His disputed succession opened the crisis that split the khaganate.
