Dedication of the Great Temple of Tenochtitlan
The tlatoani Ahuitzotl ceremonially dedicated the rebuilt Great Temple (Templo Mayor), the twin pyramid of Huitzilopochtli and Tlaloc at the heart of the Aztec capital.

The rebuilding was begun by Tizoc and completed by his brother and successor Ahuitzotl. The event is commemorated on the Dedication Stone, which bears the calendar date “8 Reed”, corresponding to 1487; according to one reconstruction, the ceremony took place on 19 December 1487.
