Third Partition of Poland
Russia, Prussia and Austria divided up what remained of the Polish–Lithuanian Commonwealth, which ceased to exist as a state; King Stanisław August Poniatowski abdicated.

Russia received Lithuania and the lands east of the Bug and the Nemirov–Grodno line; Prussia, the lands west of the Pilica, Vistula, Bug and Neman together with Warsaw; Austria, the territory between the Bug, Vistula and Pilica with Kraków (West Galicia). Stanisław August renounced the crown at Grodno on 25 November 1795.
Polish statehood was restored only in 1918.
