Marwan II
Last Umayyad caliph to rule the whole caliphate (744–750). As governor of Armenia from 732 he directed the wars against the Khazars; as caliph he fought a civil war, was defeated by the Abbasids on the Great Zab (750) and was killed in Egypt.
