Ahmad Sanjar
Son of Malik-Shah, Seljuk ruler of Khurasan from 1097 and sultan of the Seljuk Empire from 1118 to 1157. Through a long reign he largely held the empire's borders, but the Qara Khitai crushed him at Qatwan (1141) and Oghuz tribesmen captured him in 1153; after his death the Great Seljuk realm fell apart.
