Yelü Dashi
Khitan prince of the Liao imperial clan who fled west as the Jurchen Jin overran the Liao and founded the Qara Khitai (Western Liao) in Central Asia, ruling as king from 1124 and as emperor from 1132 until his death in 1143 (his title of gurkhan is dated to 1124 or 1132); in 1141 he defeated the Seljuk sultan Sanjar at Qatwan.
