Bilge Qaghan
Ashina Mojilian, khagan of the Second Turkic Khaganate from 716 to 734, son of Ilterish Qaghan, raised to the throne by his brother Kül Tegin. With Kül Tegin and his father-in-law Tonyukuk he restored Turkic power over the steppe and made peace with the Tang, who opened a frontier market where every year Chinese silk was exchanged for Turkic horses. Poisoned by one of his ministers in 734, he is commemorated by a stele of 735 whose Old Turkic text speaks in his voice.
