Napoleon’s return from Elba
Having escaped from Elba, Napoleon landed at Golfe-Juan on 1 March 1815 with a force of about a thousand men and, meeting no serious resistance, reached Paris within three weeks; Louis XVIII fled.

Near Grenoble (7 March) the troops sent against him went over to his side, and at Lyon more regiments joined him. On 20 March Napoleon entered Paris, and the Hundred Days began.
