An Lushan
Tang general of Sogdian and Turkic origin who rose as military governor of the north-eastern frontier. In late 755 he rebelled, took Luoyang and in 756 proclaimed himself emperor of Yan; in early 757 he was murdered with the support of his son An Qingxu.
