Trisong Detsen
King of Tibet from 755/756 to about 797, under whom the Tibetan Empire expanded beyond its earlier borders: in 763 his army briefly occupied the Tang capital Chang’an. He invited Shantarakshita and Padmasambhava and founded Samye, the first Buddhist monastery in Tibet.
