Uyghur Khaganate
Turkic empire of the Toquz Oghuz under Uyghur rulers, founded in 744 on the ruins of the Second Turkic Khaganate, with its capital at Ordu-Baliq on the Orkhon. Its horsemen helped the Tang retake Chang’an and Luoyang from the rebels (757), its khagan Bögü made Manichaeism the state religion, and the Yenisei Kyrgyz destroyed it in 840.
