Treaty of Jassy

The peace that ended the Russo-Turkish War of 1787–1792: the Ottoman Empire confirmed the transfer of Crimea to Russia, the new border was drawn along the Dniester, and Russia gained the lands between the Southern Bug and the Dniester.

The negotiations at Jassy were begun by Grigory Potemkin and, after his death, conducted by Alexander Bezborodko. Tiraspol (1792) and Odesa (1794–1795) were soon founded on the new lands.
