Battle of Waterloo
Napoleon’s last battle: south of Brussels his Army of the North was defeated by Wellington’s British, Dutch and German troops and by Blücher’s Prussian army, which arrived in time to join the fight.

All day the French attacked Wellington’s positions on the Mont-Saint-Jean plateau but could not break through; the arrival of Blücher’s Prussian corps on their flank decided the battle, and in the evening, after the failed attack of the Imperial Guard, the French army broke and fled.
The defeat ended the Hundred Days and the era of the Napoleonic Wars: four days later the emperor abdicated, and he was then exiled to Saint Helena.
