Battle of Yamen
The Yuan fleet destroyed the last forces of the Song off the coast of Guangdong; the child emperor Zhao Bing perished, and the Song dynasty came to an end.

After the Song capital Lin’an surrendered in 1276, loyalists of the dynasty continued to resist in the south, placing child princes on the throne. At Yamen their fleet was blockaded and destroyed; according to tradition, the minister Lu Xiufu leapt into the sea with the young emperor in his arms. The victory completed the Mongol conquest of China.
