Death of Alexander Nevsky
On his way back from the Horde, Grand Prince Alexander Nevsky fell gravely ill and died at Gorodets, having taken monastic vows under the name Aleksiy shortly before his death; he was buried in Vladimir.

There are two versions of where he died — Gorodets on the Volga and Gorodets Meshchersky (Kasimov) — so the place is marked approximately. Metropolitan Kirill announced the prince’s death in Vladimir with the words “the sun of the Russian land has set”.
